Eugene Munyendo is 7 years old and is in the Nursery Class where he likes to learn and do mathematics but has a difficult time learning Kiswahilli, the national language of Kenya and eastern Africa. Eugene will do well in school but he has some catching up to do because he has not had much opportunity for education. His favorite color is white and he likes to play soccer. He has expressed that he would like to be a pilot when he grows up. He and his sister Helen, are from the Luhya tribe and were orphaned very young due to HIV, however, he does not carry the virus. Eugene and Helen were living with their elderly grandparents and we suspect that they were not able to attend school regularly as well as being underfed and neglected due to some health issues that they have.
