Helen Arieta

Helen Arieta is 8 years old and is in Class 1 where her favorite subject is the national language of Kenya and eastern Africa, Kiswahilli. She is most challenged by English. Helen’s favorite color is pink and she loves to jump rope and play “mother”. The caring disposition she has is well suited for her desire to one day become a nurse. Helen and her brother, Eugene, are from the Luhya tribe and were orphaned due to HIV but they have not tested positive for the virus. They were being raised by their elderly grandparents and upon realizing that she was being received into the children’s home, Helen was overjoyed and beamed with a large smile which has not disappeared yet. She and her brother are very thankful to be fed, clothed well and educated.
